Robbie, a man with relationship problems, goes to spend some time at his aunt’s. But “his aunt’s” is a house-shelter for pregnant teens. Robbie fixes some stuff at the house, works as a handyman and causes a fuss among the shelter’s population. There will be a love triangle and a series of advices and exercises for this small army of pregnant girls. And there will be a bittersweet comedy -a bit bitter- by Nathan Silver ( Exit Elena, Soft in the Head, both seen at Bafici 2013), one of those small, even fragile stories that grow stronger by means of dialogue, a clear mise en scène and a pace for neurosis and for producing genuine independent films. As in Exit Elena, the presence of Cindy Silver, the director’s mother, as an actress is key for the film’s humor and frankness. The screening of Uncertain Terms and Stinking Heaven, the most recent of prolific Silver’s films, shows a filmmaker that still opts for making films full of ambiguous, unstable characters, creatures of a director increasingly aware of his skills.
