A free approach to the missing link with which the filmmaker from Granada expected to end his work, made up by what he would describe as lyrical documentaries, cinegraphies or elementaries. The elementary is a categorically poetic declination of documentary film. After the elementaries on water, fire and earth that make up the Elementary Triptych of Spain, Val del Omar intended to add a fourth film that would act as a vertex and vortex to his entire work.
New postcards of Granada –the counterpoint of the Arabic-Andalucian culture Val del Omar felt in his veins with the hurried look at the hordes of tourists (wandering between the closed paradise of the Alhambra and the open gardens of the Generalife)– pave the way to the dynamic, progressively abstract and plethoric ecstasy of images, of a time without a clock, without a space, with no feet and no ground… In order to go back to the everyday and the mundane, through those Val del Omar filmings of a more private nature and, at last, to the fundamental supplier, or the water-mirror of life.
