ON FRIDAY, «AMALIA» AT TEATRO COLÓN

24 April 2015

The first film of Argentine cinema history, from 1914, will have a free screening this Friday afternoon at the City’s opera house. Tickets will be given out on the same day starting at 1 PM at the theater’s box office.

José Mármol’s famous novel inspired, according to historians, the first film in the history of Argentine cinema, shot in 1914 by film and theater director Enrique García Velloso. Using the only 35mm copy available, property of the Museo del Cine, and a 16mm film negative owned by the Fundación Cinemateca Argentina, a color-corrected HD version of Amalia mas made. The result will be screened on Friday afternoon at 3 PM at the magnificent venue of Teatro Colón, with live accompaniment by Adrián Iaies Trío—a real treat! And on top of this, admission will be free: tickets to attend this extraordinary screening will be given out on the same day after 1 PM at the box office of the Teatro Colón.
