JACO PASTORIOUS, FROM THE SOUL

24 April 2015

The visit of Metallica’s bassist Robert Trujillo to premiere the documentary "Jaco", which he produced, and the wonderful concert led by Javier Malosetti at Usina del Arte rounded off BAFICI’s tribute to the amazing legendary player.

As Metallica’s bassist, Robert Trujillo is an international rock star. This week, he was in Buenos Aires for a different reason: the American musician of Mexican descent produced Jaco, a documentary about the life and work of amazing bass player Jaco Pastorious, hailed as the best in the history of the instrument by many critics and music lovers. Trujillo’s stay in Buenos Aires included the presentation of the film at last Tuesday’s screening and an open discussion with Mary, Jaco’s daughter, on Wednesday. ‘I saw Jaco in Santa Mónica, 1979, and it changed my life’, the well-known musician said. The Pastorious week came to an end on Thursday night with a special tribute concert conducted by talented and renowned Argentine bassist Javier Malosetti. Musicians performed before a full house at Usina del Arte—a perfect ending for the tribute to such great musician.
