Alejandro Maly delves into the life of Argentine ventriloquist Chasman and his famous alter ego Chirolita. Though the beloved duo, this documentary explores the relationship between ventriloquists and their dummies.
For those of you who don’t know who Chasman and Chirolita were, or even for those who think they remember them, this documentary featuring immediately attractive archive footage will be a surprise. The humor of Ch & Ch shows an unchanging timing. The interviews that guide this exploration work on Chasman’s personality, the success of the duet, and comedy in general, with that inevitable closeness to darker and unfathomable areas you usually reach when addressing and thoroughly observing comic nature. But this is a double documentary, because we jump go from Ch and Ch to their legacy, with different ventriloquists and their astonishing careers. And it’s even triple: the exploration goes back into the past, to the history –the legend, the mystery– of what there was before Ch and Ch: other stories of extraordinary dolls. JPF

He was born in Buenos Aires in 1979. He studied film at the UBA and after graduating started to work in various television productions as camera operator and editor. He also studied photography and film editing.
