Two days before Adicta announced its disbanding, the filmmaker crystalized, without knowing it, what would be the band’s last interview.
This documentary directed by Alejandro Barrios covers the intense life of Adicta, one of the most unique bands in the Argentine scene. The testimonies of its members, especially the original founders Rudy Martínez and Adrián “Toto” Nievas, express some of the key issues of both the group and a turning point moment in Argentine rock music. The film features Adicta’s firm stand –along other similar bands– against the rise and monopoly of neighborhood rock in the late ‘90s, its hugely influential spirit, and –perhaps what is most important– the adventure of a duo who always took the hardest path for artists to choose in this side of the world: sophistication and a mixture of rock and dance floor, amidst lights and shadows.
