A music contest will take place at the Shibazaki high school, and the members of a band decide to ask Son, a Korean exchange student, to be the lead singer. The problem is Son barely speaks Japanese, and she only has three days to learn the songs.
A high school in Japan. A band made up of girls who have been closer than now. In fact, they are fresh out of a singer, and in order to fill this void they call a Korean exchange student who speaks only a little Japanese. The band starts rehearsing so they can play at the big school fest: they will be doing a cover version of the song “Linda Linda Linda”, by Japanese punk band The Blue Hearts. Gracefully, this film by Nobuhiro Yamashita tells the story of the preparations, loves, problems, growing friendship and disagreements, and the girls’ efforts. Typically, after a very tense, rainy suspense, the punk blast will come, but not before a visitation by The Ramones. Hint: it is nearly impossible to leave the theater not singing the title song.
