A writer of mystery novels gets a letter from a reader and college student who claims to hear strange noises in her room. The novelist decides to help her find out about the history of the people who used to live in her apartment.
How does one shock with Japanese ghost horror after the invasion of original version and remakes during the early 2000s? With more horror, more ghosts, starting off from skepticism and adding an investigative plot. The Inerasable is a film about ghosts that multiply because they leave traces in time, because they cannot be erased. An ingenious idea of gloomy urban palimpsest carried out with tremendous efficiency by genre expert Yoshihiro Nakamura, who discovers ghostly layers upon ghostly layers with enough intelligence to measure out, hide and scare –a lot– with the simplicity of returning to the roots and making us scared of the countershot.
