Jason Schwartzman and his dog star in the story of a slacker who gets fired from his job and spends most of his time drunk, looking for a purpose in life.

Ever since the beginning of cinema, dogs have seduced cameras with their animal magnetism. Despite the fact that in these past 121 years several directors have built great hairy shots, it was Aki Kaurismäki who won the title of best dog portrayer. With 7 Chinese Brothers, Bob Byington comes in, determined to snatch the title. The co-protagonist of this fiction film is a French bulldog with big eyes, who only needs a simple blink to overshadow the lord and master of indie comedies: Jason Schwartzman. Together, they move without a leash through the story, ready to walk the Earth without any ambition of finding bones or a coin; take napping together on the couch is enough reward. People usually say dogs are man’s best friends, but here it’s the other way around: man is dog’s best friend. MD
