Four Premieres

04 de April de 2016

Among many new features, [18] BAFICI premieres the new films by Avi Mograbi, Alexander Sokurov, Michel Gondry and Arturo Ripstein. What a treat!

Always at the forefront of cinema, the Festival will showcase, for the first time in Buenos Aires, new works by Avi Mograbi (Between Fences), Alexander Sokurov (Francofonia), Michel Gondry (Microbe et gasoil) and Arturo Ripstein (Bleak Street). And this is just a part of the abundant new material of [18] BAFICI. The film by Mograbi, regarded as Israel’s most important documentary maker, is Between Fences, about his experience directing a theater workshop for African refugees at a detention facility in the border between Israel and Egypt. From the creator of Russian Ark and the most recent Faust comes Francofonia, showing how, during the Nazi-occupied Paris, the artistic treasures of the Louvre museum were specially protected. Another new film will be the most recent work by French director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind), titled Microbe et gasoil: the film follows the wild adventures of two marginalized teenagers who avoid family vacation and “build” their own car to hit the road. And great Mexican director Arturo Ripstein will bring Bleak Street, a crime movie following two social outcasts and their harsh struggle for everyday survival in a big city, based on a real story that occurred in Mexico.
