Film director and producer Gastón Solnicki studied at the Centro Internacional de Fotografía and obtained his degree in Film from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He directed the feature films Süden (2008), premiered at BAFICI, winner of a Special Jury Mention and a Condor de Plata award for artistic innovation; and Papirosen (2011), premiered at Locarno Film Festival and screened at the international festivals of Rotterdam, Vancouver, Jeonju and Viennale, among others. Papirosen received several awards, including Best Film at BAFICI 2012, a Special Jury Mention in Edinburgh and the Lia Award in Jerusalem. The film was premiered in theaters in 2014 in New York, where it was chosen as one of the best new movies by the critics of the New York Times.

He is currently working on his next film, Kékszakállú.
