In its tenth edition, FIBA welcomes Panorama Sur, a Buenos Aires-based theatre-dance-performance platform, created and directed by Cynthia Edul and Alejandro Tantanian. This year, it celebrates its sixth edition with an international show created by diverse artists from Latin America, which was co-produced by the two institutions and will premiere at the Festival.
Panorama Sur provides space and time for artists from the region to develop a new project, as well as an immersive environment for learning and reflecting on contemporary arts. Also, the platform brings audiences closer to the work of international artists who strongly lean on experimentation. The aim of the annually held Panorama Sur is to promote collaboration and exchange between Latin American artists, creating a network that integrates both talent and institutions from the region. This intensive three-week program includes playwright-in-residence sessions in Spanish, the presentation of international shows, a series of lectures on contemporary aesthetics (in theatre and dance) and workshops conducted by international artists. Every year, around twenty authors from different countries in Latin America, in addition to local and worldwide artists, meet in Buenos Aires over three weeks to develop new projects, to exchange ideas in a dialogue with the international scene and to network with other artists. One of the quintessential characteristics of Panorama Sur is to encourage social interactions between artists in order to establish lasting relationships beyond this platform. In its sixth edition, Panorama Sur’s seminar welcomes twenty-one authors from Cuba, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Spain and different provinces of Argentina.
Lecture Series on Performing Arts presented by Panorama Sur, 10 FIBA & Malba Literatura
This is a series of four lectures based on the Ciclo Invocaciones, created by Mercedes Halfon and Carolina Martín Ferro, in which four theatre directors from Buenos Aires engage in a dialogue with four other directors of 20th century theatre; that means that they have worked “with”, “inspired by” and “rewriting” authors, directors and aesthetics that preceded them.
At these sessions, each director will share their reflections on the rewriting and reading done: Sergio Boris will talk about Artaud; Silvio Lang, about Meyerhold; Agustín Mendilaharzu and Walter Jakob, about Brecht; and Mariana Chaud, about Jarry. All lectures are admission free and will take place at the Salón Dorado of Teatro Colón on September 14, 16, 21 & 23 at 5:30 PM.
