Jungle Boyz

If a rock musician’s dream were to play with Jagger and Richards, then the equivalent for a dub band (a musical genre derived from reggae) would be to brush against Lee “Scratch” Perry and Mad Professor. And it turns out that in Argentina, a country with practically zero tradition in that genre, that band actually exists: it’s called Nairobi, it was born out of the underground Buenos Aires scene with links to the rest of Latin America, and in its early years was already working side by side with referents from three continents. Filmed from inside the core of the band, Jungle Boyz documents Nairobi’s artistic and professional evolution –a journey from Morón to Gambia with stopovers in London, Santiago de Chile, and the Swiss Alps— and rescues archive footage featuring both the band’s live performances and the intimacy of the genre’s great musicians. To put it more clearly: if Nairobi were a garage rock band, they’d be jamming with the Rolling Stones here. LG
