Buscando a Gastón

Clearly, for Peruvian people cooking is no longer a merely pleasant, playful act. Cooking is perhaps the new national seal.” That’s the introduction of chef Gastón Acurio, a significant militant of culinary arts, a pallet hero in our neighbor country. Amidst ceviches, huancaína potatoes, and anticuchos, Gastón reveals his proverbial talkative nature and unites his art with his roots, identity, culture, but mostly his inheritance, upward and downward, knowing with certainty that the kitchen is where people is. Going over the different branches of Gastón’s restaurants, recording a mini Master Chef stunt to evaluate his cooks, and following him as he buys spices and chats with excited housewives, this documentary puts an eye (and taste buds) at the service of colors, forms, textures, and recipes for a relentless demanding chef whose life –and words– spins around flavor. He is joined by Ferran Adriá, Joan Roca, Mássimo Bottura, Alex Atala, and other world-renowned chefs. A one-way ticket to gourmet world. PC
