Poner al rock de moda

The hero’s journey, that mythology turned dogma that both enriched and hurt classic narrative, might easily find a reflection on the rock music world, with its guitar-holding gentlemen facing obstacles that seem unsalvageable in a fantasy world. But unlike most films about music bands, Bring Back Rock is not a documentary about a rise to stardom. Banda de Turistas is already a well-known band with both critical and commercial success. What’s next, then? Travelling in Argentina and abroad, and the pressure on how to continue. And that’s where Charriere walks in with his cameras (there are all kinds: Super 8, 16mm, and video) in order to record rehearsals, concerts, and the both elusive and wonderful moments of tension and creation. The main theme in this opera prima can be found in its title: art and its transcendence, two problematic terms that sooner or later will come in conflict in any artist’s life. LL
