Kneecaps are free. No one goes through life without experiencing dancing. If you want to know what it’s like you should go dancing. Cumbia is the princess of the streets, a hammock for kids, Latin America’s popular music. It’s fun and it takes away the sadness. So, in the year 1955, the Wawancó were already moving everyone’s booty. A documentary that honors the Argentine tropical music, Cumbia, the Queen addresses that beginning and its comings and goings. The authorities? El Cuarteto Imperial, Los del Trópico, Koli Arce and El Quinteto Imperial. The influence of Colombian music, the arrival of the accordion, the importance of the country’s interior, the democracy of the speaker, session musicians, 1990s heartthrobs, the word of the villa, and the validity of cumbia in the creole music landscape. Cumbia, the Queen is pure emotion. And it’s also the centrifuge testimony of honest hearts, joyful peoples, and the hot, captivating, and popular souls. Therefore, it’s pretty logic: if there’s cumbia, there will –always– be celebration. HP
