Mich’ael Zupraner is Jewish, Israeli, filmmaker. And he lives in a house of white walls up a hill in Hebron. Palestinians don’t trust him: he could be an infiltrator. Israelis think he works as an informant for the Palestinians. His situation is ambiguous, and from it he tries to build a neutral space of sorts where everyone can celebrate New Year’s Eve, whatever their creed. We don’t really know who Mich’ael Zupraner is –maybe he’s a filmmaker who participates in a demonstration wearing a tiger mask. Or maybe it’s Tom Ripley in front of the mirror, taking off a fake beard. FG
