With the beautiful colors of a few days in autumn, this film joins Narcisa Hirsch, fundamental guiding light for Argentine experimental film, in her activities and meditations, without clearly determining where ones end and others begin. By revisiting photos and letters from the filmmaker’s mother’s youth, the film presents a tale of Don Juans, happy, distant men that adopt a mysterious, mythical essence. Almost like the recurring reference to the desert, that place place that used to attract the mystics and draw them closer to god. Narcisa observes, quoting Sloterdijk, the metaphysical abandon of our times and a certain need to recover those deserts. That’s why she continues searching, inventing and offering them in every screening of her films like small possibilities of contemplation that are timeless, emphatic and playful all at once. Silvina Szperling allows the images in this documentary to appear with spontaneity, as part of a fascinated listen. This way, different reflections combine and give way to dialogue, with words and images as fleeting as they are eternal. ES
